So far, Joyride has had the most comprehensive tracklist and packaging of the deluxe editions released. Despite the era-inappropriate photos and non-matching fonts used in that packaging, I can at least try to assemble an even more comprehensive tracklist.

Joyride: XL Edition

While most people won’t see the difference, I’ve chosen the LP artwork as the starting point since it has a larger margin than the CD version. This artwork is nearly perfect, so my big issue was finding the best position and treatment for adding the “XL edition” wording.

Album

I’ve used the international CD for the album since it has the most complete tracklisting. I know Per considers the LP the definitive version of the album, but that makes it hard to explain Church of Your Heart as the final single from the album.

Demos

The demos are already very well represented by the Joyride thirtieth-anniversary edition, so the main change here is to get the tracks in chronological order. Interestingly, most songs were written specifically for the album1 except for the lone holdover from Look Sharp!: “Physical Fascination”. Per also tried to upcycle “Run Run Run” and “Another Place, Another Time” from Gyllene Tider’s The Heartland Café album.

Outtakes, B-sides and non-album tracks

Considering how many bonus tracks the singles contained, ending up with only a few tracks here seems odd, but the many demos and remixes partly explain it. I’ve deliberately not included the live versions of “Hotblooded” and “Fading Like a Flower” featured in the thirtieth-anniversary box set as they were B-sides on Tourism singles.

Mixes and edits

While the thirtieth-anniversary edition included a few remixes, they mainly focused on the US adult contemporary mixes on DJ promos and ignored most of the remixes on the singles. I’ve included all of those remixes here, and I’ve also taken the controversial decision of including the BomKrash remixes of “Knockin’ on Every Door” even though they were included in a Tourism single4, contradicting my decision about not including some other tracks.

I don’t know if there are more demos, but after the thirtieth-anniversary edition, I would think not. The same goes for outtakes and remixes, but we can always be surprised with an unknown nugget Per has conveniently forgotten to include elsewhere.
