ROX RMX Reissues Repercussions

  • Barry Mieny

With the ROX RMX physical release and digital reissues done, let’s look at what we gained and lost. It feels a bit like “Winners and losers / We’re all in the same show / Running and running again / Any way the wind will blow”, to be honest.

ROX RMX

Digital reissue

The digital reissue is a net win, with five new tracks, and some minor reshuffling.

Volume 1 loses “Fading Like a Flower” by Galantis, but gains “Fading Like A Rose (Everytime remix)”, “The Sweet Hello, the Sad Goodbye (Bassflow remake)”, and “Fading Like A Rose (Original +2 bpm)” for a new total of 16 tracks.

“Fading Like a Flower” by Galantis is the new opener for Volume 2, with “Fading Like a Flower” by the Dancing DJs moving later in the track list and “The Look (Head‐Drum‐mix)” being replaced with “The Look (Head-Drum airwave mix)” for a new total of 16 tracks.

Volume 3 now starts off with “Listen to Your Heart (Alle Farben remix)” with “The Look (Head‐Drum‐mix)” slotting in as the second-to-last track to take the total number of tracks to 17.

Physical release

This one’s a mixed bag, and a few tracks get lost in the shuffle.

Volume 1 has no casualties, opening with “Listen to Your Heart (Alle Farben remix)” and joined by the normal version of “Fading Like A Rose” for a total of 16 tracks.

Volume 2 replaces “The Look (Head‐Drum‐mix)” with “The Look (Head-Drum airwave mix)”. Hey, at least it’s a new track!

“The Sweet Hello, the Sad Goodbye (Bassflow remake - radio edit)” is a welcome addition to Volume 3, but we do lose “Dangerous (Waste of Vinyl 12″ mix)” and “Chances (Dancehall version)” in the process.

In conclusion, the digital reissue gets some nice additions with the number of tracks increasing from 44 to 49. While the physical release track count does increase by one from 44 to 45, it comes at the expense of losing three existing tracks to make space for four new tracks.

For the completionists: get both, for everyone else who just want all the remixes: buy a lossless version from Qobuz.
